Weaviate Query Agent adds effort parameter for retrieval cost control
victorialslocum · x · 2026-08-25
Weaviate's Query Agent introduces an "effort" parameter (medium/high/ultrahigh) to control compute spend per request.
- High Effort: Spends more time decomposing natural language into effective queries and more thoroughly reranks retrieved documents for better quality.
- Low Effort: Reduces latency and cost.
Applications can dynamically switch modes—using medium for routine searches and ultrahigh for reasoning-intensive tasks where accuracy outweighs speed.
