2026 Singapore Consensus Sets Global AI Safety Research Priorities with 100+ Experts from 13 Countries

The 2026 Singapore Consensus on Global AI Safety Research Priorities has been published. It is the outcome of the second International Scientific Exchange on AI Safety, bringing together over 100 contributors from 13 countries across frontier AI developers, government safety institutes, academia, and civil society.
Building on the 2025 edition, it lays out the top-priority technical AI safety research problems globally, with two new dedicated focuses: societal resilience and managing risks from increasingly autonomous AI agents.
The steering committee includes Yoshua Bengio (MILA), Stuart Russell and Dawn Song (UC Berkeley), Max Tegmark (FLI), Andrew Yao, Xue Lan, Zhang Ya-Qin, and Zhou Bowen, among others.
