IBM has unveiled its next-generation mainframe chip, the first processor to run both Arm and Z (native mainframe) workloads on the same cores, breaking the traditional requirement for separate hardware per architecture. For enterprises mixing cloud-native Arm applications with legacy mainframe transaction processing, this opens a more flexible consolidation path.
