Neuroscientist: text-only training uses only half of our visual capacity
3scorciav · x · 2026-08-23
A neuroscience researcher pushes back on the engineering view that language is a universal interface: over half of the human visual cortex operates completely outside language, forming representations language never touches. Another researcher added that one's "master" shapes their research agenda, suggesting the text-first paradigm bias may come from academic lineage. The thread points at the limits of text-centric multimodal modeling.
