2026 International AI Safety Report: Limited Evidence of AI Manipulation, Positive Learning Impact

The 2026 International AI Safety Report notes limited evidence that AI manipulation is currently widespread or unusually effective. A meta-analysis of 35 experimental studies found an overall positive effect on learning outcomes. Nonconsensual deepfakes are mostly created on home GPUs, unrelated to lab data centers. Gary Marcus comments that significant job loss is likely a decade or more away.
