Pew: AI Writing Found in 9.4% of .com Sites vs 1% of .edu

According to Pew Research, by 2026, 9.4% of .com webpages showed significant signs of AI editing or authorship, compared to only 1% of .edu and 0.8% of .gov pages. This uneven spread is likely because commercial publishers benefit directly from faster drafting and higher volume, while public institutions have slower processes and weaker volume incentives.
