AI agent cancels subscription because user said "cancel" while reporting a bug
hugobowne · x · 2026-08-21
User Atita Arora reported a bug to Circleback that froze her laptop. Despite repeatedly asking for a human agent, the system canceled her subscription three days later because her message contained the words "I want to cancel." This is a classic agent failure: the retriever matched keywords but missed the intent, and the model acted on the wrong evidence. The annotated talk covers how to diagnose if such failures stem from the model or the retrieval evidence.
