Meta AI glasses boom raises creepy-recording fears as venues ban them

As Meta AI glasses explode in popularity, the odds of being secretly recorded in public keep rising, Ars Technica reports. Meta is not the only smart-glasses maker, but its AI glasses dominate the market.
Some public places — schools, courts, restaurants, and entertainment venues — have started banning them. Even the organizers of DEF CON 2026 reportedly banned smart glasses with no exceptions, telling prescription-glasses wearers to pack a non-violating pair.
