AI can now outsource almost all emotional labor, commodifying the baseline of human psyche
signulll · x · 2026-08-21
AI can theoretically outsource almost all emotional labor now, including reassurance, validation, perspective, conflict rehearsal, and even the feeling of being heard through voice interactions.
This is a pretty remarkable shift for the human psyche. Previously, this was extremely expensive because it required real depth, time, and real emotional costs with a real human on the other end; now, at least the baseline is entirely commoditized.
