AI-Designed Proteins Head to Wet Lab Testing, Researcher More Nervous Than for Training Runs

A researcher shared that their model redesigned a set of proteins, which are now being expressed and tested by their experimental collaborator. He noted feeling far more nervous than during any training run, even though those runs are probably an order of magnitude more expensive — a small window into AI for Science moving from computation to real wet-lab validation.
