Watching preferred short-form videos deactivates key brain regions for cognitive control
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-08-20
Research indicates that watching short-form videos you enjoy reduces activity in brain regions involved in cognitive control. The more immersive the viewing, the less these control systems are recruited. Regions responsible for monitoring conflict and executing top-down control were more suppressed when participants watched clips to completion compared to those they skipped early.
