NetEase's Bee AI skips foundation model race to solve young users' daily chores
创业邦 · wechat · 2026-08-20
NetEase Media launched "Bee AI" as a unified AI layer inside its young-community app Xiaomifeng. Instead of building a general-purpose foundation model, it integrates search, understanding and generation to handle everyday chores—resume editing, a 4-day Yunnan trip on a 3,000 RMB budget, or aggregating internship tips from community posts—so users stop juggling apps and rewriting prompts.
Notable features: the "Lobster" agent retrieves knowledge from interest-based "Hive" communities and auto-generates daily diaries; uploading one cat photo can produce a playable interactive mini-game, collapsing what used to need planner, artist and programmer into a plain-language prompt. Context: China has 602M generative-AI users, 47.7% under 30. NetEase calls young users the toughest testbed for a "good AI" that must go from tool to companion.
