Claude Code Auto Mode Now Configurable in Plain English
EricBuess · x · 2026-08-20
Claude Code's Auto Mode now supports configuration via natural language.
- Mechanism: A separate classifier model reviews each action against user-defined rules to decide whether to allow or block it.
- New Feature: Users can write rules directly in plain English to constrain the AI's behavior; adding "$defaults" retains the built-in safety rules.
This allows developers to intuitively set guardrails for the AI coding assistant's automated actions.
