Google Launches 'Operation Blue Skies' to Cut Aviation Climate Impact with AI

Google, in partnership with the UK government, launched "Operation Blue Skies" to address contrails, which account for roughly one-third of aviation's climate impact. The initiative uses AI models to predict contrail-sensitive areas and deviate aircraft to avoid them, while employing ML on satellite imagery to verify the impact.
