PINE64 Halts Linux Hardware Production, Blames AI Bubble for High Component Costs
kscottz · x · 2026-08-19
Open hardware specialist PINE64 has announced it will stop producing Linux-capable single-board computers, phones, and tablets. The decision is driven by skyrocketing DRAM and eMMC prices, attributed to the AI boom and massive data center buildouts. Current stock is expected to last three months, with production resumption hinging on component pricing after mid-2027. Microcontroller lines remain unaffected.
