New Framework Enables Complex Physics Simulation for 3D Gaussian Splats
Scobleizer · x · 2026-08-19
A CVPR 2026 paper presents the first framework to unify 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) assets with traditional CG assets and static scenes in off-the-shelf heterogeneous physics engines. By introducing a Representation Abstraction Framework that translates 3DGS, meshes, and fluids into a unified physical particle set, it bridges the representation gap preventing 3DGS from being physically interactive. This enables 3DGS assets to participate in scene-level, multi-solver simulations involving fluids, cloth, and rigid bodies, demonstrating realistic two-way interactions in complex environments.
