Doubao's New Computer Use Rivals Codex: Control Your PC Agent From Your Phone
dotey · x · 2026-08-18
A hands-on review finds Doubao's latest update increasingly Codex-like: GUI computer control on Windows uses a virtual desktop so human and AI can operate the PC simultaneously without interference — better than Claude Code's blocking Computer Use. Another highlight is remote-controlling your PC agent from the phone: the author's wife in China used Doubao on her phone to command a US computer to find a document and send it to Feishu. Use cases span Office formatting, file organization, batch Photoshop edits, and even sending WeChat messages. Tip: let agents self-verify — write their own tests or screenshot their own PPT output. Entry point is the PC client's "Work Tasks" mode; both devices must share one account; Mac only supports browser GUI for now.
