macOS leak reveals camera AirPods demo: Siri sees what you see, no iPhone needed
APPSO · wechat · 2026-08-18
MacRumors found an unreleased demo video in macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC showing camera-equipped AirPods in action: holding a book up to the earbuds lets the camera read the title, and Siri can save it—no iPhone required. The system even warns users when hair blocks the earbuds' view. Firmware references include Visual Intelligence settings and internal codename B790.
Per Bloomberg, the B798 project has reached DVT, with cameras in both earbuds acting as visual sensors feeding Siri context about what the user sees. The design stays close to AirPods Pro 3 with a longer stem and an external indicator light for privacy when visual data goes to the cloud.
Delayed by the new Siri, the launch slipped from early 2026 to late 2027. The piece argues AirPods—already worn all day by hundreds of millions—are Apple's most realistic post-iPhone AI hardware, needing only eyes on the world.
