Many assume that LLMs solving math problems open for decades implies they are now better than humans. The author argues that while the conclusion might be true, the reasoning is flawed. The same observation would occur if the models were simply avoiding specific paths that are hard for humans, rather than possessing superior general reasoning abilities.
