Google open-sources HEIR compiler for private AI inference via homomorphic encryption

Google released HEIR, an open-source compiler in its Private Computing Toolkit, enabling cryptographically-secure private AI inference via homomorphic encryption. This technology allows computations on encrypted data, letting servers process ciphertexts and return encrypted results without exposing underlying information. It solves the trade-off between privacy and functionality in standard encryption. While currently carrying a computational cost, the overhead is decreasing rapidly, making it viable for privacy-sensitive sectors like healthcare and finance.
