Matic Robot co-founder Mehul shared in an interview that they learned from iRobot founders that Roomba was priced at $199 because it's the 'gadget-friendly' price point where people don't need permission from a partner to buy. The previous LIDAR-equipped Trilobite failed at $1,500. This logic was extrapolated to determine viable pricing for home robots.
