Energy constraints will make model routing with fallbacks essential infrastructure

Energy availability is emerging as a critical constraint for model hosting. Because grid power is slow to scale, new data centers rely on on-site generation that lacks the redundancy of standard hosting, trading uptime (99.9% vs 99.99%) for speed and cost. To reliably utilize this cheaper but less reliable capacity, the industry will shift toward a default architecture that spreads requests across multiple hosts and automatically switches between them upon failure.
