Perplexity launches Agent API with multi-step research and code execution, doubling Sonar scores

Perplexity announced that Sonar is moving to the Agent API, which adds multi-step research, code execution, built-in tools, and access to multiple models through one API while keeping grounded web search. On BrowseComp and WideSearch, the Agent API more than doubles the best Sonar score.
