TMLR to Stop Accepting Survey Papers Citing Reviewer Resource Constraints

The machine learning journal TMLR announced that it will no longer consider survey papers for review starting September 1, 2026.
Editors explained that while great surveys hold value, finding and verifying them has become increasingly labor-intensive for reviewers, and it falls outside the journal's main scope and mission. This decision reflects current tensions in academic reviewer resources and the evolving role of surveys in the rapidly advancing AI field.
