New research highlights that the biggest mistake in RAG for AI agents isn't bad retrieval, but rather flawed write mechanisms when building agent memory.

The authors propose that the cost of remembering should not scale linearly with the volume of memories stored. Based on their experience building custom agent memory, they demonstrate significant optimizations: achieving 45% faster performance on long conversations while processing 97% fewer tokens.
