Nature Study: Arbitrary fMRI Data Can Reliably Map the Brain's Language Network

A new study published in Nature Communications analyzed brain scans from over 1,000 subjects across 300+ tasks, revealing that the brain's language network reliably shows up in the functional connectome.
This means researchers no longer need extra resting-state or localizer task scans. By leveraging task-agnostic individualized functional connectomics (iFC), they can accurately map a person's language network using fMRI timecourse data from arbitrary tasks like looking at faces or matching colors.
