Opinion: AI Agents Should Be Company Infrastructure, Not Personal Tools

The author challenges the current mainstream concept of an "AI-native company," which typically involves giving every employee an AI agent and having them build personal workflows around tools like Claude or Codex. The author argues this is backwards: engineers, designers, and lawyers should focus on their core professions rather than being forced to become experts in prompting and context management.
Instead, agents should move out of individual IDEs and chats and into company infrastructure. Much like CI/CD pipelines, tasks should be assigned directly to agents, with the company centrally owning the orchestration, models, permissions, and context. From the employee's perspective, AI increasingly "disappears," which the author believes is the true endgame for AI-native companies.
