Addressing the misuse of AI tools in academic criticism, scholar Itai Sher noted that AI drastically lowers the barrier to publishing seemingly authoritative critiques that often contain genuine factual errors, urging a consideration of the consequences.

Chenhao Tan verified this with tests, finding that zero-shot GPT exposes significant issues. The AI often distorted or directly contradicted the original authors' intentions in an attempt to squeeze very different theorists into extremely concise summaries of capitalism. This highlights the persistent flaws in the rigor of AI-generated academic content.
