Google DeepMind Launches Sign Language AI on Pixel 11

Google DeepMind introduced a massively multilingual sign-language-to-text (SL2T) translation model designed to serve over 70 million Deaf and hard-of-hearing users globally.

This marks the first time sign language AI has moved out of the lab into consumer products. On the Pixel 11's Gboard and Live Transcribe, users can now use American Sign Language (ASL) instead of typing for dictation, web searches, drafting documents, or interacting with Gemini. Testers reported that signing is faster, more natural, and more delightful than typing in English.
