Fermi Paradox as AGI Defense: No Alien AI Means No Galactic Disaster
francoisfleuret · x · 2026-08-13
AI researcher François Fleuret shared a macroscopic perspective on AGI risk, suggesting a variation of the Fermi Paradox. He argues that if AI were inevitably going to cause a galactic-scale catastrophe, we should have already observed the destructive expansion of AI from other alien civilizations.
Since we have not observed any such phenomena, it implies that this extreme scenario is highly unlikely, and humanity need not be overly anxious about AI doom.
