OpenAI researcher Dave Holtz shared insights from a recent prompting paper, revealing that workers who don't adapt their prompting strategies when upgrading to newer AI models leave about 50% of the potential value on the table.
Lab experiments showed that half of the performance improvement comes from users actively updating how they prompt and interact with more capable models. This adaptation is especially critical for precision tasks requiring specific outputs.
