Perplexity Launches Agent API, More Than Doubling Sonar's Research Scores

Perplexity announced that its Sonar API is transitioning to the new Agent API. The upgraded API retains grounded web search while adding multi-step research, code execution, built-in tools, and access to multiple models through a single interface.
On the BrowseComp and WideSearch benchmarks, the Agent API more than doubles the best scores previously achieved by Sonar.
