CAICT: China's AI Industry Exceeds 1.2 Trillion Yuan in 2025

According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the size of China's AI industry is estimated to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan ($177 billion) in 2025, up 40% year-on-year.
As of June 2026, China hosts over 6,600 AI companies, representing 15% of the global total, with a complete industrial system spanning infrastructure, models/frameworks, and applications.
Industry Structure & Growth:
- Applications: Accounted for 55% of the industry chain, up 22% YoY.
- Foundational Infrastructure: Accounted for 38%, growing 59%.
- Models & Frameworks: Made up 7%, with the fastest growth rate of 189%.
The industry is highly concentrated, with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Shandong accounting for over 80% of the total. China will continue its "AI Plus" initiative to promote deep integration across sectors.
