Ramez Naam: AI is Neither Utopia nor Dystopia
sebkrier · x · 2026-08-13
Sci-fi author and tech investor Ramez Naam will share a contrarian perspective on AI's impact at the Foresight Institute seminar.
He argues that while AI is a remarkable invention, there is no sign of an impending AI utopia or dystopia. Although AI will cause substantial societal changes, multiple limiting factors and core attributes of the technology will likely mute its impact. Rather than giving in to eschatological views, society should focus on leveraging AI to improve the world and boosting its resilience and adaptability.
