Garry Tan: Keep AI Coding Agents Separate, Use Git Repos for Memory

In a recent tweet, YC President Garry Tan shared his insights on the architecture of AI coding agents. He argued that running complex tasks like GBrain should be treated as a separate agent rather than being directly integrated into your main coding tools like Codex or Claude Code.
He suggested conceptualizing this auxiliary agent as a personal ChatGPT or Claude, equipped with its own dedicated Git repo to manage memory and custom skills. Previously, another developer mentioned that the new version of GBrain has processed hundreds of thousands of Markdown files via a personal OpenClaw agent, validating the reliability of this memory architecture.
