Injecting Motion Understanding into Meta's Glimmer: The MotionGlimmer Project
andrew_n_carr · x · 2026-08-13
A developer conducted a modality expansion experiment based on Meta's newly released Glimmer model. Utilizing the 2048 reserved tokens within the model, they successfully trained MotionGlimmer.
Technical Details:
- Core Idea: Translates continuous human motion data into FAST tokens and embeds them into the 30B parameter Glimmer model.
- Results: Through QLoRA fine-tuning, the model successfully learned to read human motion and translate it into English captions.
- Data & Performance: Trained on an 8,807-clip motion-only dataset, achieving a held-out cross-entropy of 0.273 at checkpoint 2,500 out of 3,000.
