Temasek Plans Direct Investment in Samsung and SK Hynix, Chip Stocks Surge

South Korean chipmakers saw their shares rally as risk appetite returned. Samsung Electronics Co. and SK Hynix Inc. briefly extended gains to more than 8%.
The surge was supported by a local media report stating that Singapore’s state fund Temasek Holdings plans to invest directly in the two chipmakers through its internal investment team and is currently mulling the timing.
