ollama · x · 2026-08-12
GitHub Copilot for JetBrains announced several major updates, most notably supporting Ollama as a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) provider. Developers can now configure and use local open-source models directly within the IDE.
Other key updates include:
- Cross-session memory: Copilot can now retain and recall contextual information across chat sessions, eliminating the need to repeat project preferences.
- Enterprise management controls: Administrators have more server-based controls covering plugin availability and MCP server access.
- Expanded Codex workflows: Supports updated permission modes and custom instructions, with more transparent debug logs.
