Oracle's AI Infrastructure Push Turns Cash Flow Negative, Plans Major Layoffs
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-08-12
Oracle is preparing for another round of layoffs this month, with some teams facing double-digit percentage cuts, according to Business Insider. The company aims to reduce payroll before September 1.
Oracle's workforce has already dropped from 162,000 to 141,000. The tech giant spent $55.7 billion on capital expenditures against $32.0 billion in operating cash flow, resulting in a negative free cash flow of $23.7 billion. Despite raising substantial debt and seeing cloud infrastructure revenue surge 77%, the massive AI infrastructure investment is forcing the company to cut costs elsewhere.
