Lumentum Earnings Quell Rumors, Confirms Accelerated Nvidia CPO Demand
zephyr_z9 · x · 2026-08-12
Optical component maker Lumentum's ($LITE) latest earnings call has put to rest rumors about Nvidia failing with Co-Packaged Optics (CPO).
An analyst noted that Lumentum's Optical Circuit Switching (OCS) work foreshadowed the need for Near-Packaged Optics (NPO), but this transition is arriving sooner than expected. To meet scale-out demands, a multi-lambda solution is required, and the CPO solution based on the COUPE architecture might not be ready in time. Additionally, converting to Micro-Ring Resonators (MRRs) is not an easy task.
