dotagents Major Update: Native Support for Cross-Platform Agent Plugins Standard
zeeg · x · 2026-08-12
dotagents announced a major update introducing native support for Agent Plugins, an open, vendor-neutral portable package format designed to bundle reusable AI components like Agent Skills and MCP servers into unified plugins.
Key features of the new release include:
- Smart fetching and adaptation: Automatically fetches plugins and adapts them to major harness installations (such as Claude).
- Simplified API: The add method is smart enough to figure out whether to import a plugin or a skill from the source, keeping the API dead simple.
By defining a portable core with a plugin.json and fixed directory structures (skills/, mcp.json), this standard solves the pain point of developing redundant plugins for different clients.
