Gemini for Go Developers: Model Selection and Agent Development Guide
rseroter · x · 2026-08-12
A Google DevRel engineer launched the 'Gemini for Go Developers' tutorial series, aimed at building AI applications using Go.
The first chapter focuses on the Gemini model family's naming conventions and selection strategies. It highlights that while frontier models grab headlines, choosing smaller or specialized models for specific tasks is crucial for cost-effective engineering and latency reduction. Overusing Pro models can unnecessarily increase costs without better outcomes.
Future chapters will cover building autonomous agents using Genkit and ADK, and deploying applications to the cloud using the G3 Stack (Go, Gemini, GCP).
