EU AI Watering Law: OpenAI and Five Others May Require Invisible Text Marks

According to the updated EU Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Mistral have all signed the agreement, meaning they must invisibly watermark AI-generated text (while xAI has not).
However, some suggest that there may be alternative ways to comply with the law that do not necessarily involve the specific watermarking methods currently used by Claude and Gemini.
