SEC Exempts Datacenter Debt from Key Securitization Rules to Boost AI Infrastructure

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has exempted a major subset of data-center securitizations from key rules.

This means data-center debt will bypass standard disclosure requirements and investor protections, such as risk retention rules which normally require issuers of asset-backed securities to retain a portion of the debt to align their interests with investors. The move is expected to further fuel investment in AI infrastructure.
