AI Erodes Graduate Jobs: Australian Law Firm Slashes Intake as Entry-Level Roles Shift

As AI capabilities advance, the demand for entry-level white-collar roles is significantly shrinking. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei previously predicted that AI could wipe out half of all white-collar entry-level jobs, and the World Economic Forum estimates that 39% of jobs will fundamentally change by 2030.
This trend is already materializing in certain sectors. Australian law firm MinterEllison, leveraging AI to improve the efficiency of routine tasks, announced a cut in its graduate intake from over 100 to 72. In response to these shifting market dynamics, university students are advised to master AI applications in real workplace scenarios and deeply understand the implications for data privacy, compliance, and human accountability.
