WeChat Tests AI-Assisted Moments Writing, Sparking 'NPC' Backlash

Tencent's WeChat is currently A/B testing an AI-assisted writing feature for WeChat Moments. The tool allows users to auto-generate personal posts or comments for others' updates.
However, the rollout has sparked controversy. Former Tencent director Cheng Lingfeng criticized the feature, arguing that flooding the platform with AI-generated text will drive away real human interaction and turn the social network into a world of 'NPCs'.
