Unreleased Claude Tackles Riemann Hypothesis, Raising Zero Bound to 67.2%

scaling01 · x · 2026-08-11

Anthropic tasked an unreleased research version of Claude with solving the Millennium Prize problem: the Riemann hypothesis.

Although it didn't fully solve it, the model made significant strides on a related problem: it increased the lower bound for the fraction of zeros of the Riemann zeta function that satisfy the hypothesis from 41.6% to 67.2%. This demonstrates the immense potential of frontier LLMs in advanced pure mathematical reasoning.
