DeepMind Introduces ResidencyRL for Training Healthcare Agents via Simulation
SRSchmidgall · x · 2026-08-11
Google DeepMind and Google Research teams introduced ResidencyRL, a novel multi-turn online reinforcement learning (RL) method designed to train healthcare agents in simulated environments.
The researchers note that while medical training begins with textbooks, clinical competence is forged through practice. By applying this simulated multi-turn RL approach, they demonstrated significant performance gains for health agents on top of existing frontier systems.
