Google Launches AP2 Protocol for Secure AI Agent Payments

Google recently launched the AP2 Protocol, an open standard designed to address security and trust issues for AI agents making autonomous purchases.

Traditional payment rails are built for humans. AP2 bridges this gap using cryptographically signed mandates, ensuring authorization, authenticity, and accountability for every agent-led transaction.

The protocol supports cards, bank transfers, stablecoins, and crypto. Backed by PayPal, Mastercard, and Coinbase, it aims to build a universal, secure foundation for AI-driven commerce.
