BYD Enters Humanoid Robotics, Set to Unveil 'Xiao Di' in August

Chinese EV giant BYD has officially entered the humanoid robot race and is scheduled to launch its first robot, codenamed "Xiao Di," in August.
Product Specs & Strategy:
- "Xiao Di" stands 1.61 meters tall, weighs 58.5 kg, and features 31 degrees of freedom.
- It supports interaction in 6 Chinese dialects and 6 foreign languages.
- BYD formed an internal robotics team back in 2024 and has already integrated UBTECH's Walker S1 robots into its auto production workshops for material handling and quality inspection.
- BYD has also previously invested in robotics companies like AGIBOT and PaXini.
BYD Group EVP Li Ke emphasized that car manufacturers already possess a massive edge in software, hardware, and manufacturing capabilities derived from autonomous driving research.
